Julianne Moore will star in Antti J. Jokinen's new film, Nicholas North.
Estar Studios founder and internationally renowned director of music videos and commercials, Antti J. Jokinen is currently directing The Resident, a feature film he wrote, starring Oscar-winning Hilary Swank (Clint Eastwood's Million Dollar Baby, 2004, and Boys Don't Cry, 1999). His next feature, Nicholas North, is an adventurous fantasy slated for production in spring 2010 and premiering December 2011. Antti found inspiration for the film in his native Finland's legendary tale, The Kalevala-so the themes in Nicholas North will be familiar to a large crowd. The film will be shot in the Lapland city of Rovaniemi and North Karelia and follows the adventures of a young boy named Nicholas who sets out to save the northern people who have fallen under an evil spell. Nicholas North is the first production of Estar Studios and will be made in cooperation with a number of eminent Finnish partners. With a budget of approximately 16 million euros, it is bigger than most productions in Finland Nicholas North has a cast and crew brimming with internationally renowned talent. WORLD-CLASS FILM STARS AND INTERNATIONAL TOP PROFESSIONALS IN FINLANDWritten, co-produced and directed by Antti J. Jokinen, Nicholas North boasts world-class film stars amongst its cast. Oscar-nominated actress Julianne Moore (The Hours, 2002, Hannibal, 2001 and Magnolia, 1999) will be seen in one of the principal roles alongside of well-known Finnish and Swedish actors. Behind the camera will be Oscar-winning cinematographer Guillermo Navarro (The Hobbit, 2011, Night at the Museum, 2006 and Pan's Labyrinth, 2006). The film will be co-produced by Americans John Baldecchi (The Mexican, 2001) and Howard Kaplan (The Good Shepherd, 2006). The screenplay is co-written by Jokinen and Matthew B. Wilder. |
